Tim Boyde wrote this report on a project which was carried out as a pilot under the New Economics Foundation’s “Plugging the Leaks” programme, funded by the Countryside Agency. This is all about finding out how money leaks out of communities and creating strategies to keep money within communities for longer. The purpose of the programme is to show that local economies can be aided not just by pumping money in, but keeping it there and not letting it leak out.
